i recently saw an omen cue for sale with a quilted maple forearm, i was just wondering if it has good quality and is it costly. thanks

Omen Cue

I know the cue, and he only uses the best wood, he is a very picky selector of wood. He's friends with Denis Searing and they are both anal about the quality of their cues. Which is a good thing. His cues are impregnated and stabilized and they sell around 1000 more or less depends on details. That's for a non-pointed cue.

All the quilted maple I've priced is higher than curly or birdseye. A lot depends on the grade.

Hope this helps.

All the quilted maple that I've ever seen is big leaf western maple which is soft and light. To be used in a cue the wood needs a large core made out of some solid wood or better yet it needs to be stabilized.

Quilted maple

Quilted maple is lighter. I core with Maple .The wood I have is instrument grade sweet looking stuff . You can see a peice of it to the right of the birds eye......Hope this helps......Ray Weeks 003.jpg
