What's the line on Rachel Abbink? She seems to be one of the few women out there really cutting her teeth on the road, playing at all the tournies and living the life of a road player. I have seen her in tournaments, and she did not always seem to be championship level, but given the amount of experience she is getting do you think she will become a serious threat in the WPBA should she compete?

i'm wondering,,,,does a woman have to lead "a road player's life" to compete at the pro level?

Rachel's game will fool you. It always seems that her outs are lucky but after you see her get lucky to get out in game after game, match after match , well it can't always be luck. As you can see in Michigan, she finished well ahead of some wpba top 32'rs but as far as threatening the top 10 players, i dont think so. i also think she likes the gambling/road life more than the WPBA as she surely could have played in many WPBA events by now but i recall her in only one.

Her game has come up some in the last year. She hits em pretty good and has a good break on the bar tables. I havn't seen her play much on 9 footers. Sam

Isn't she pretty young? If so, maybe after she's been on the road for a while, she'll settle down and start playing the tournaments more. That's the path many of the top male have taken, so why wouldn't that work for her?

Rachel's game is getting very good. She's been playing on the road for years. She has to, because she's from such a small city that she really doesn't have any peers there. I don't think she has many peers in this province (Ontario), period. I think she's got the ability and drive to play at the pro level, and do well. Just my opinion.

I had the chance to play Rachael in the Viking Tour, State Championship. She is a fierce competitor but very professional and handles herself quite well. Her game is top notch and I am sure that she would be a force to reckon with for the WPBA as well as most men. I was fortunate enough to put her out of the tournament but only because I played one of my better matches and the rolls were in my favor that day.
Next time, she may just send me to the bleachers. Her game definitely deserves respect.

Joe....respects all opponents, gender makes no difference in this game...
Peace

well... lucky for her :p i wasnt there when she first got there... i came into the pool hall after a long night of playing.. (till around 5:30 am) a little tired and she was already there matched up with one of the locals... (getting the 8 and stealing) as a matter of fact i had been there all night playing the person that she was playing.. i think she ended up winning 2700 off the guy and the rails all together... was a very good night for her... i think my boy still had the better end of the action but he just played terrible... i guess he was still tired from our marathon match...

the gal on the road

lets hope that Rachael Abbink does not pick up some of Larrys habits, mainly his lack of heart and zero balls. maybe HE can improve his gambling by watching and learning from HER.

She's here in Valley Forge now. Saw here earlier. Not playing though. I guess she's resting up for the tournament tomorrow. :)

I've seen her play in many places, in fact I see her everywhere I go. She's definitely improved her game since her early days (6 years ago) running with Kingston local Rob Hall and then road player Rick Glenn.
