outside of America in many markets pool is thriving.
In America it’s tough action to open a pool room, and by that measure hard to keep an existing room open. Many factors.
So yes pool as a whole is just fine, just have to be in the correct area. Like growing watermelons, if you are on the North Pole it’s not likely that you’ll have a good crop

Someday it will be cool again to play this game. There is an aspect of it that will stand the test of time. Perhaps even the addition of medical revelations of how the game’s mental demands can help reduce ADD symptoms in youth and mental deterioration in the elderly populations.
From the “cool” aspect - probably not a movie again, but some “pop” figure who displays public and social media revelations displaying their love affair with the game .
If this does not happen - then in about 15 -20 years you can start using your cherished TS cues for firewood
