Rail Covering

Heres some pics on how I cover valley table rails. The way I do it,there is no fold on the rail. Just curious how many other of you cover the rails this way. The reason I ask is because anywhere I seem to go the rails always have folds on the rails. I just think this looks a lot sharper plus no possible interference. Thanks

We always fold. your rails do look good but i would be interested
is seeing granito or simonis w/no folds!! Mercury ultra is fairly easy
to wrap w/no folds but a heavier or worsted cloth (like sd said) would
put to much pressure on the cushion and facing.

Turn them rails around, let me see the back side of them....:D

In almost all cases, when there's no fold in the side pockets, the points of the cushions wear through the cloth from being held so tight against the cloth...now I do realize it takes a lot of play for that to happen, but it never happens with a folded side pocket...AND, with a fold, you don't get the snooker effect of the facing either.

Glen

I just thought I'd also add, that if the fold isn't done right, it'll slip down and cause a lower than ball center bump in the fold, which will cause the balls to kind of jump when they come in contact with the loose fold at just the right speed and angle.

Glen

Thanks for your opinons guys thats why i asked heres the back lol.

Pulling out all those staples takes to much time. I only use 9 staples per corner pocket, and 6 per side pocket, and none inbetween:D

Glen

PS. Not knocking your work, just letting you know there's an easier way.

That looks very good I can do the same but i didnt use any glue so I had to staple that much.. To be honest the only reason i have covered with no folds is due to the gentleman i do the rails for he likes the looks better on all his tables. it's deffinitly more work unfortunetly.
