Rail question

My rails measure 1 7/16" to the nose of the cushion. I agree that a GC or Diamomd would be great to have but I live in East coast Canada there is one GC that I know of in my province and its a 6 x 12 in my local pool hall, there isnt many tables for sale around here and the ones that are, are mostly Palason. I got my table from the local pool hall when they renovated the room they got rid of the one 8 footer and thats the biggest table I can fit in my house so I want to install new rails on it and new felt. so I would like to install the best rails I can and that appears to be Artemis now wouldnt I just need to get the correct style either K66 or K55 whichever my table has now Is that right?

yes ...if you have k-66 then put k-66 back on ....use artemis if you want the best ...use 3m -10 glue rough cut the pocket angle and trim exact with a mini belt sander. Use 60 durometer neoprene facings up to 1/4" max and again trim to fit with the belt sander. then get the simonis rail install dvd's and install the cloth perfectly ...and your good to go ...

try to have a pro do this otherwise good luck.

Thank you for your input Im new to this side of a pool table and I feel I can improve my table to play better then it ever did. I will look for a pro to do this work forsure I know of some In Atlantic Canada and it sounds like changing rails and cloth is basic work and they should be able to do it.

What Donnie is getting at is there are other aspects of the table that make it play good.

Starting from the ground up, if your frame is not solid, you may get some movement. I've seen tables that if you lean against them, they feel like they will fall over. A weak frame can also sag under the weight of the slate and come out of level.

If the hardware used to mount the slate is not solid and tight, your slate may not stay level and flush across the seams.

If your hardware used to mount the rails is cheap or not solid, your rails won't be able to be tightened down as much as they should. If you have a loose rail, I don't care what kind of rubber you put on it, it will play dead.

You may know that your VW can't be made into a Porsche, but you're asking to make it RUN like a Porsche.

Please don't take offense to this, but if you're asking about changing to a K55 profile rubber, I have to assume that you're not going to have the knowledge/tools to properly modify the rails for Artemis. If you want the table to play right, you really should hire a qualified mechanic. I don't know where you're located, but you're looking at a pretty good expense to have that done. If your current table is not a good starting point, your money/time may be better invested into something better to start with. Rails can always be modified, but you need a good base/slate for the table to play good too.

Just something to think about.

that pretty much sums it up as for whats wrong with this brand of tables and then some.
speaking from adventures i've had with these tables changing rubbers is not going to do it unfortunately. i wouldn't invest to large in this table,its ok for amusement, but for a serious player everything is wrong,
