rail work

I have a Gold Crown 1. It was purchased from an original owner who had it in his den since the 60's. I had it set up by a well respected mechanic from the Baltimore area. He took the rails to his shop and installed super speed. Set the table up with the new cushions and 860. The cushions play very stiff. They bank long and come up at least a diamond off on three rail kicks. Any thoughts?
I live in Wilmington, DE, half way between Baltimore and Philly. Looking for someone who can install Artemis if that would help.

Do you know if he modified the sub-rails for the new cushions? I went through this on my GCII. The early Gold Crowns have Monarch Super Speeds on them, this is a different profile than the current Super Speeds, the Monarchs are no longer made. If your sub-rails were not modified the new cushions will either change your playing field size, it wont be twice as long as it is wide, or the nose height of the cushion will be incorrect, depending on whether he installed a K-55 or a K-66. I am not a mechanic, just a GC owner who went through this problem trying to get new cushions installed. I am sure some mechanics will chime in with some more info for you. I am sure this is where your problem is though, a current cushion profile on sub-rails designed for Monarch Super Speeds.
