budding straight pool player who somehow always plays position for shots that need a rake on accident. The problem is i dont have one!!! What would you guys suggest. Lots of them are cheap looking and i want one that is well made, works well and wont damage my table obviously. Do you guys just buy the head and attach to a cheap cue? Suggestions appreciated.

There are several good ones out there. I use the Corona bridge head by Tiger. It is made of leather so it won't hurt either the table or damage your shaft either while stroking or when placing the cue in position. Attaches to any house or break cue. It is a traditionally shaped head, is lightweight and has a flat footprint so it fits easily in your case pocket.
