Random Mike Massey Siting

I live in the DFW metroplex and play at a few pool halls around town. I've seen pictures of Mike Massey at a couple of places, but I had no clue where he lives currently. So, the other night I was at Rusty's Billiards in Arlington... and sure enough I heard Mike's distinct voice behind me and knew it was him before I even turned around.

I was excited to meet him b/c I enjoy watching his old matched on youtube. Everyone seemed like it was a common occurrence. I asked the bartender if he lives here, but he didn't know. He did mention that he has dropped in randomly over the last decade.

Anyways..I only had a chance to talk to him for a second and he's probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. I had an old school Brunswick with me that he was really intrigued with, so I had him sign it, thinking it was a fitting cue for a Massey signature.

He signed it, "Jesus Loves Us. Mike Massey". It covers most of the wood past the points, lol. It made more sense after I ready up a little more about him.

This was a good article..

He did a show while I was at school many years ago. It was really entertaining. And he was a super nice guy.

Mike was at my house a couple of years ago, and did one of the most amazing and memorable things I have ever seen in pool.

He asked me how many pool balls did I think he could pick up and hold only using one hand. I thought I would guess high so I said four. He proceeded to pick up NINE balls using only one hand. One at a time and holding them as he kept picking up each successive ball. I was blown away.

And I also second the comment that Mike is genuinely one of the nicest people you will ever meet in life. Not just in the pool world, anywhere.
