Rarity of Southwest under 19oz?

SW cues under 19oz are exceedingly rare. Also, I see some outright wrong information in this thread, btw. Reader beware. :sorry:

Weight bolts bring to mind a bolt that can be accessed under the bumper of the cue and unscrewed. I know for a fact that you can't see anything when you remove the bumper but wood on a SW.

When folks think of weight bolts they think of removable ones. If it is a structural part of the cue and can't be removed then its another thing.
That is essentially what it is. It is part of the preconceived design of the cue and not removable. Is it a weight bolt, yes. Can you remove it, no.

I will definitely post pics when it arrives. I am pretty sure it will hit great as with all SW.

I am not so sure about that. I spent some time there when Jerry was alive and the cues were being assembles with all the pins pre selected depending on what the final cue was to be. Some had larger pins and some smaller pins at the different connections including the butt.

They may have changed what they do since Jerry died I can't say, I can only go by what I was shown and had explained to me and saw with my own eyes.

If someone has a SW you can check with a stud finder if there are any weight pins as long as they are steel.
Correct. I xrayed all mine and found differing lengths, diameters and materials of both A-Joint and butt pins. 3/8 to 1/2 and maybe 5/8. Aluminum, brass, steel, and I suspect G10 or Titanium now days. By changing diameters, lengths and materials, you can move some weight around. To my knowledge, SW has never cored anything...that Ive seen. This may be something they do now, but in the old days, no.

There is no removable weight bolt like in so many other cues. If there is something internal in the cue I've never heard about it. Tads are the same way when you take off the bumper there is no bolt.
You remove that pin and ur butt falls off, so thats not an option. No real way to get a hold of it, to back it out. Youd have to tap it reverse and hope it held.

I personally like 18.75 or 19 oz. Thats not really that big of a difference, but it all depends on the woods...obviously its easier with maple and no points...

The way it should. A SW cue under 19oz is sacrilege. Hell, I think just about any cue under 19oz is a travesty.. Don't even get me started on those under 18.5oz..

My playing cue at the moment is 17.6 OZ

Next custom will hopefully tip the scale at a monstrous 16-16.99
Oz - just want to lose a little more weight.

I had an all birdseye SW pacifier that was 20 oz. Any wood can vary on weight/density.
