A few weeks ago I sent my cue off to cold Nebraska to have Ryan (ratcues) of Mueller's Recreational Products (www.poolndarts.com) install a cork wrap and modify one of the shafts on my Carmeli.

First is the cork wrap which I like a lot more than I thought I would

I had to go macro with my camera to even see the seam

I also had him reduce the diameter to 12.2mm, lengthen the taper to 16", shorten the ferrule to 1/4", and install a Sniper tip with a pad :)

I'm extremely happy with the work he did. It was executed very professionally and I definitely recommend Ryan for all your cue work needs.

That is a solid maple shaft. It's one of the originals that came with the Carmeli.

The cue will get about an hour of play today at lunch. When I first wrapped my hands around the cork it was a whole new feeling of weight and balance (a very positive difference) and I'm sure it will play stellar :)

I like the Cork wrap too, and its very easy to keep clean..

Does all Carmelli shafts have the small ferrule? Thats one reason I like the X shaft so much, I like the Short ferrules..

The Sniper is an awsome tip, it does take awhile for it to seat in, after about a week, you will see a very noticeable differance..I know I did....

The Carmeli shaft actually came with a longer ferrule and a triangle tip, but I figured while I was waiting on the cork wrap I might as well get the shaft modified how I desired. I had Ryan take the diameter down to 12.2mm, shorten the ferrule to 1/4" (about the width of the tip :p ), install a sniper tip with a pad, and pull the taper back to 16".

My Varney has a sniper tip so that's what made me decide on it. I've had it for around a year and 3 months and have not needed a re-shaping so far. It's a great tip and I can't wait to break it in on this cue.
