re: jump shot/ attack on larry

hi all, first off it is a great shot to get over a ball that close, and it don't matter who's shooting it. I'm a lover of pool and although i'm not quite pro caliber I play pretty well. To get over something that close takes time and practice and if he can get over that on a regular basis my hats off to him.
As for the attacks on Larry, This is just my opinion, but they were brought on by himself. Maybe if he wasn't impressed with the shot he could have just said " not impressed ". I'm kinda new to this board but there seems to be a lot of bad blood here. Larry, as I read your replys I didn't develope a very good impression of you. I've never met you and had never heard of you before now, but unless something changes in the future I can say I would not buy your tapes. There is a well known man that has put a large variety of videos out and I have heard some positive things about certain tapes. But having met the man and played against him in a few tournaments, decided that due to his un-sportsman-like attitude, I will not ever put money in his pocket. I dont know how you are in person but you should always remember first impressions last. A good example of personality is Tom Rossman.
One final note: any pool shot is a good pool shot, whether it makes a ball or not. The main goal is to continue to play and learn. keep hittin' em. sam

Oh come on Fast Larry say nothing? Yeah right!! What was it Mark twain said? Oh yeah, "better to be thought a fool than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt". Larry removes all doubt many times a day!!!! B

It's a real shame, actually. Fast Larry obviously knows his stuff, and in his posts in which he is honestly trying to convey some useful pool info, he does a great job. He seems like a pretty cool, guy, actually. He screws up his welcome here, though, and comes across badly with his constant sales pitch and his put-downs of other people.

Larry -- if you're reading this -- you do not elevate yourself even a fraction of an inch by putting down other people. In fact, you lower yourself. And you're not going to sell any more DVD's by constantly talking about them. When they come out, I think everybody here will welcome their announcement and info about how to order them. You seem to take the position that you are just defending yourself, but I don't think that is true. It is usually you who starts it by bad-mouthing someone or some thing.

Stop it, please!

Robert Byrne & Bob Jewett

A teachers main job is to teach. Guys like Robert Byrne and Bob Jewett are real decent guys as well as good teachers. Just sitting and listening to their views is a pleasure. They are fine examples. Now I understand the apprentice/ master relationship as I have studied the martial arts or the soldier/officer relationship in war. But I dont think you have to treat everyone like they are a piece of clay that only you can mold. As a matter of fact some of the greatest warriors and martial artists are very nice warm human beings.

I personally was impressed by the video, and fl was maybe a lil rude about it, he's got a right to say what he wants about it, i'm not gonna sit and rip on him for him speaking his mind. If more people would come out and say what's on their mind the world would be a better place, instead people say what they think others want to hear, or they just flat out lie. In no/way/shape/form do i agree with what he did, but am i gonna sit here and bad mouth him for it? NO If you don't have something constructive to say to him then don't say anything at all. Remember this guy has dedicated a large part of his life to trick shots and the sport of billiards, and he is a recognized expert in the field, read everything he has to say first b4 you lash out against him. Knowledge is power.
