re: killing pool
Since I can't access your threads, I am posting this as a response. Most bars and pool rooms in Okc are very friendly competitors. We support, promote and advertise for each other. We have a very good working relationship. Almost all bars and rooms pay 50% of league dues to support their pool teams. I personally paid almost $30,000.00 in league fees last year. When an outside company comes in and causes one of us to lose a major event such as the apa citywide (a $25,000.00 event I lost) it offends us all. One person pointed out that I am the only one losing money, but that isn't true. When teams are stuck in a casino all weekend and aren't playing a match, they go blow all of their disposable income and when the event is over they come back to us broke and wanting to run tabs for a month. If we as business owners stand idly by ,then the next post on az forums will be (another room goes down). After reading this, decide for yourself who is killing pool, bars and rooms paying league dues or outside companies taking major events away from them. As for the (rumor) about local bars saying your events aren't happening or that you aren't adding money, that isn't true. What was said was" expect small turnouts because of no local support." I did say there wouldn't be a warm welcome.
