Re-Tapering a Low Deflection Shaft Question

I have a customer who wants me to re-taper a laminated LD shaft. Are there any special considerations I need to be aware of when re-tapering a shaft of this kind. Does re-tapering invalidate the warranty on this kind of shaft?

I've done plenty of re-tapers for regular maple shafts, and typically limit the reducing of the shaft diameter by .5mm per job. I will let a customer know that if they want it smaller than the .5mm reduction that they should wait a couple of months to let the wood stabilize before I reduce it further.
I have a perfect success record doing it this way with regular maple shafts, but I have no experience re-tapering laminated shafts. I would appreciate any advice on this. Thanks in advance for your information.

I'm not sure which shaft you have, but of those that truly are very low deflection, the most that is allowed is usually .5mm.

On our OB cue shafts, we allow the 12.75mm models to go down to 12.25mm, and the 11.75mm models to go down to 11.25mm.

If you are doing it with sandpaper keep in mind that it generates heat. Too much heat and you could have delamination. The finer the sandpaper, the more heat generated.
