re-tipping cues

I don't recall saying a tip won't change over time. In fact, most tips play better at the end of their life then when freshly installed, IMO.

My point is, and still remains that going through a tip a month is ridiculous and most definitely user related. You raised the issue of pro players and tips, I disagreed that they change their tip according to how hard they've become over time.

If there's one thing most pro players are superstitious about it's their tip, and they don't change it according to any timeline other than how well it's playing.
Well, I see we are closer to agreeing about this than not.

I'm with you on the user abuse piece. If you recall, I wasn't the one that brought the pros into the equation, I just commented on my experience with the ones I've done work for and have been around.

I would add that you are right that superstition does affect a player's decision regarding changing the tip, but more so , it's because, as I stated before, the breaking in period can be unpredictable. They try to find a window when there are no tournaments coming up or action to be had.

I wouldn't, however, say that "MOST tips play better at the end of their life...", because many of them tend to cause the miscues that are not caused by a faulty stroke. You can tap them rough, but they glaze over again much more quickly at the end of their life. Most tips play better after the breaking in period than they do when they're fist installed and also better than at the end of the life of the tip.
