Really tight wood threaded shaft

I picked up a Deickman last week that has three shafts. One of them looks unplayed (tip looks played but the shaft is super clean) and is very tight threading into the butt (thread is on the shaft in case it was not obvious.)

Thread measures the same for both shafts with a caliper. The diameter of the trough between threads is a bit different. .405 on the shaft that threads in ok and .408 on the one that is tight.

Both shafts have the same initials in the same handprinting MSZ

I can get it tightened down but it takes a lot of hand strength to do so. Getting it apart is a bit difficult. I have tried threading it on a number of times but it is still very tight.

Is wax or something an option to help this? If so what kind?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi There.

I only have experience with Logoni. Sometimes they come very tight with wj.

I contact Longoni, they suggest to sand down the shaft joint with 400 grit sand paper. do not used any kind of wax or it will damage the wj.

Just to share with Longoni experience.

olgoat, your best bet ... would be .. just call Dieckman about this problem and see what he say Dieckman PH # 734-428-1161. Believe you might even get the cue story from Dieckman!!! Sound like a Dieckman Mazin Shooni Cue.

You're good. The signature says it was made for Mazin FWIW. I didn't think Deickman was back in the shop. Thanks for the phone number although I'm not sure how that phone call will go.. :)

I still have one of DD's shafts to play with and another made reported by Kyle Van den Bosch that fits the butt correctly.

DD has made a few different thread pitches. You may not have the original shafts. Call him for sure and he will help.

One thing he will tell you is, if the shaft threads down to the end of the thread but gets tight where there's no thread then lightly sand the unthreaded section. 220 grit and take your time. It won't take much.
Weather plays havoc on wood screws. But once you have it, its good forever.
