I recently finnished my nipple for my rear chuck. Now, its time to start on the center steady rest bearing. I want to use a compound like Loc tight to use on the nipple to keep from unthreading. Is this wise, and what kind do I need. I was also thinking of drilling two set screws through spindle and nipple for added insurance. I dont want this thing comming off at 1500RPM's. For the people who have this kind of set up do you think it is accurate enought for installing shaft incerts?

Either the blue or red loctite should do the job if you have a good fit. If that chuck and the front chuck both turn within a thousandth or so of true you should be fine on installing inserts and pins.

rear chuck trouble

I having a small problem with my rear chuck. When I put my adapter in my front chuck, I test the sholder becaust that is where it is smooth. I am perfect. Meaning my indacator doesnt move at all. when I test the thread part im out like .009, thats because of the threads im assuming. when I put the adapter on the rear of the spine im out .008 and maybe .012 on the threads. when I put the rear chuck on im like .015 out. I have tested all O. D. peices. I havnt put anything in the jaws to test that peice yet, but am I already running into a problem
