I recently moved and set up my oversized 8' Anniversary in my new home. slate leveled and everything went relatively smoothly. After recovering and installing rails and starting to play, one rail make a thumping "dead" sound when balls strike it, but the balls rebound and it plays as it is supposed to. Anyone know why this is? Did I not tighten the rails enough? rubber coming loose from the rail? Thanks. Doesn't affect play, just sounds crappy.

Tighten the rail bolts again....more than Likely the table has the 8-ball nut plate in it.....the screws tend to pull out of the wood and just tighten down on the slate....not tightening the rails.
That's the main reason I change the 8-ball plate out....replacing them with the inserts that diamond uses on there tables. Makes the rails play a lot more solid.
Cushions could of worked loose....or are going dead.
What kind of cushions are on the table....if you have ever changed them.

Thanks for the response. I will try.

Monarch cushions. I haven't changed them and am not sure if they have ever been changed, but they are lively. I did a little research and saw pics of some rails that were on one site, and mine doesn't have the underside rail fixture like the one pictured on the page noted below. Mine simply has the threaded "nut" in the rail that kind of floats within the rail itself.

Somethings wrong with that because Brunswick never used the floating capture nut in the Anniversary rails at all, they didn't even come out with that rail bolt system until about 1972;)
