I'm not sure if I need one atm. But imma just make a thread to see what id get.

I'm looking for a budget break cue. Ive heard a lot about the Pred BK2 and the Mezz PB2 / DI shaft. But they're too costly for a break cue imo.

Tried the poison jump/break cue its ok, but not as good as i thought. Price is acceptable but doesnt perform well enough.

Im now looking into the following cues:
- Falcon TNT2 Break cue - im surprised no one has heard of this cue, its from canada i suppose.
- J&J Break cue(not sure which model) but its cheap as hell here, if any one uses one let me know what u think.
- Joss Thor Hammer Purpleheart - really like how it look, never tried it before and i cant seem to locate any here in Taiwan. So i wouldnt be able to try it.

I dont want a J/B because I alr have a Steve Lomax jump coming... and i think the more parts a cue is in the more chances of getting the cue warped if the cues aren't tightened properly when used.

Let me know what u use and what you recommend.

The same cue you play with is the least expensive choice.
I used to think I needed a break cue too.
I've been breaking excellent with my HXT 4 with a soft Kamui Black tip.
I can still get cue ball speed in the low 20's with it and maintain control of the cue ball. Another plus is I dont have to switch cues or carry a second cue. The only negative is that it might flatten the tip a little quicker than if I didn't break with it.
I break better than any player in my monday league whether they use a specialized break cue or not.
Some Players worry about damaging their playing cue if they use it to break with.
If your playing cue isn't built well enough to break with, it isn't built well enough to play with either.

If you have a decent spare cue (butt only) with good grip, weight and balance point, I would consider a break shaft only, like the ob break shaft or the tiger icebreaker shaft. I break with the ob break shaft on a McDPred1 butt (http://www.mcdermottcue.com/mcdpred1.php), and it breaks great.

When I upgraded my playing cue I just switched my old one to my breaker. It is just a cheap falcon and I put a Samsara tip on it.

It works great because I am used to the feel after playing with it for so long.

For the price: J&J.

My favorite production break cue is the Fury J/B, but it is pricier than J&J.

Personally I use a Gilbert J/B, but that is even more costly. If I lost all my cues and had to start from scratch, I'd buy a Fury.

I switched to J&J jb from Vx 2.9. J&J performs way better than VX 2.9 in both breaking and jumping. Try out Gino Ferrari break cue, it's cheap and plays equally with my current J&J.

VX 2.9 is such a disappointment, I regret wasting time and money on it.

used

a used older cuetec has abought a stiff of a hit you can get.
makes for a hard core breaker. I picked mine up on fleabay. 40.00

just a opinion

I bought a Jump/Break from Jian Ying in China, this thing is a monster and was incredibly inexpensive. They called the tip "crystal" I'm not real sure what that is but "Holy Crushed Balls Batman". We call this cue "The Beast". It hits pretty good

+1, this thing is a true monster, I break like a cannon with this, I have not tried Mezz but I cannot break as well with a BK2. some beautiful day if things are right, I got 4-5 balls on the break and the cue ball jumps up and sat nicely right in the middle of the table. recommended

Yes, agree 100%, this is an angry cue. I actually bought it thinking I was gonna change the tip and ferrule and make it into a playing cue but I broke an 8 ball rack with it the first day I got it one time just to try it out, loved it.

Can't deny the playability of those beasts. The thing is their price is ridiculous. They have a bunch of 5 for sale on ebay for 200$ which means 40$ each while the retail price for one is 70$, same as a J&J jb. I'd like to see the price to be cheaper and more design options to choose
