what have you guys used and liked
looking for something to spray on the balls when in the tray of the cleaner
rather doing one ball at a time
using maguiars ultimate detail now but it has wax in it i believe
thanks in advance

maguiars final inspection #34 in the tan bottle.

that is the right number. this for me, has no wax or silicone and i think the only cleaner for to use in the ball polisher machines.

one quick light spray. experiment from there and not overdo it. real bad leather marks or black spots need rubbing off with your wet thumb.

I forget the exact ratio, it has been discussed on here a lot, but take 90+% IPA and you put X tablespoons of Aramith ball cleaner in it.

Just shake before spraying. It works really well. I can't remember the formula off the top of my head.

thanks @maha .... (y)
just got some from amazon

Just the Aramith cleaner. Good for the machine and also by hand

I use Aramith diluted 20% and two drops per 8 balls. For a spray, I use Clean & Shine, got it from Seyberts. I get the balls spinning and pump twice over them. I like this alot also especially if not too dirty. I clean them maybe once every two weeks. I have to say though, with the Dynasphere Challengers I got awhile back you don't have to clean as often. They stay cleaner than even my Aramith Duramiths.
Rexus has his highly diluted mixture of Aramith that can be sprayed and he seems to get great results.

I really like Fedor’s stuff. Works with one or two spritzes on the whole set.

I can second this endorsement. Used in a Diamond ball polisher the Gorst ball polishing solution is the best I found and I’ve tried countless cleaners over 30 years we’ve cleaned balls in our pool room. Only issue is the little spray can it comes in sprays out way too much and disperses it out too widely, so I transferred the liquid to another sprayer which works much better.

The Gorst shaft cleaner solution also works very well. I’m guessing it could likely be the same stuff - but both work extremely well for me.

It does have wax per the ingredients list.

i guess i didnt find that when i researched it. but ive been using it for years and dont see any major effects others than a short time before getting dirty again, balls moving fine. no issues.

and it effectively cleans the balls.

can draw the cue ball normally not like after the billiard products make the cue ball livelier.

any product is going to have something in it to make them shinier or cleaner.

as said use only a tiny bit. spraying a lot of anything is going to affect the balls and the cloth over time.

what i now found was silicone free and the wax is below the amount that has to be stated in %. so good to go for me.

but also when the balls are spinning i use a cloth to rub them around for a short time at the end so it helps clean and remove anything on them.

I’m still using the Bludworth machine I bought 30 yrs. ago, and the spray concentrate they sell (with occasional interim Aramith cream to remove stubborn stains). Machine once needed a minor repair and felt change, plus mixing the spray IS rather inconvenient compared to premix/disposable brands, but quite satisfied otherwise. Machine gets little use though since I started using the pricy green chalk & Duramith balls.

This is what I do .. I clean them once a week and it gets all the marks off from diamond pockets lol

I keep heating about the marks from Diamond pockets but I honestly have never found a mark from the pockets on my Diamond Professional pockets in the 7 years or so that I have had it.
My one leagues Diamond bar boxes that they bought used, used to mark the balls quite a bit. You could scrape them off with your fingernail.

Worked in the same pool hall for 20 years. We always used rubbing alcohol in the ball polisher.
Dr Dave found throw increased a lot if rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) was used instead of Aramith cleaner. In a test using dirty balls, no treatment resulted in 5-3/8" throw, 12-3/8" for isopropyl-alcohol treated balls, and 3-3/8" for Aramith cleaner treated balls.

AZers swore by a 20% Aramith ball cleaner and 80% isopropyl alcohol mix (2 tablespoons cleaner to 8 tablespoons ISO [1/2 cup]) to prevent damage to balls using motorized ball cleaners. No data on whether throw is increased a lot by adding isopropyl alcohol to Aramith ball cleaner compared to using drops of the 100% Aramith ball cleaner on balls.

In another test with new Aramith balls, untreated balls had 7" throw versus treatments with silicone spray, 1/2", and Turtle Wax, 3-3/8".

See “Cut induced throw (CIT) and spin-induced throw in Pool and Billiards” Dr Dave. 3/18/2010.

I use 1 drop of straight Aramith cleaner on every 2nd or 3rd ball, sometimes I put them in my Diamond polisher with no cleaner at all. It has served me well for 15 years so I will keep doing it this way.
