White Diamond and hard Triangle tips are the two tips for breaking that give me the most control with power - just my many years of experience - Power without control only solves half the successful breaking solution.
One needs to contact the desired aim point with desired power and also control the cue ball from the resultant break point.

The white diamond tips come in 14mm but my shaft is a 13mm. Can the tip be shaved down to fit my cue?Ty Mike for your input
Me I like XX hard tips better than phenolic since they take chalk better and make a more pleasing sound.
Many/most will point in the Phenolic (and similar) direction.
I have a Water Buffalo tip on my main breaker which is a fairly hard tip. It seems a little hard to me. Doesn't have a good feel. Might get it replaced with something just a little softer in the very near future.

I use the Horo Black Storm. So far I have been really pleased. Holds chalk nicely, solid hit.
Why does everybody seem to think that you have to have a really hard tip on your break cue?

Same reasons I have a jump cue --- its more fun, more destructive, and more-experienced players chuckle at you for being neanderthalic.

Couple principles at work. Scientifically; energy transfer and everybody knows more is more.
I had a white diamond tip on one of my break cues. It’s really nice but kept popping off. I replaced it with a Samsara over 15 years ago, it still there and breaking very well. I ordered two Samsara tips back then, one is still in the package unused…
I thinking about installing it on my Carbon break shaft
Tips pop off if not installed correctly as per the tip and ferrule combination .

Originally it was installed by Seyberts who also know how to install tips…
After it popped off 2-3 times, I gave up and went with the Samsara.
It did look good though, I had Seyberts install a brown phenolic ferrule with the white diamond tip, cool looking combo, I’ll look for a picture that I have somewhere.
