My blue circle cueball that came with the other 15 Centennials does just fine. When I don't stroke it right it behaves worse than when I stroke it well. No surprise.
There have been other posts recently on this. Buy a set of balls that matches. That's what you want. Don't mismatch cue balls with other balls.
I don't mean to be a smart alec, but buy a good quality set of balls. Top quality. If you go mixing and matching you will end up with problems IMO. I prefer Centennials. Partially just because of the classic looks. The cueball is just fine and the problems you heard of are either due to the operator or mixing the cueball with balls that are differnet size or weight or whatever. I supply plenty of operator error BTW.
still leaves us stuck with the fact that equipment changes from place to place and we have to learn to adapt to them. just like some tables have shitty rubber or slow cloth. sometimes we get a shitty cue ball. its sucks, but hey, what can you do........
I play with the red circle ball because in the past that's what I was seeing the most on tables around here.
The new ph in town (the ONLY ph in town!) uses Centennial ball sets with the standard blue circle ball. After about 100 hours on those new tables I think the blue circle ball plays very close to the red circle I"m used to.
A couple of weeks ago I got a "measles" cue ball. It's expensive but helps me practice as I can get excellent feedback relative to where on the cb the cue tip is hitting. It also plays very much like the red circle I"ve been using.
