I'm curious if any of you drink this before playing a match or a tournament. My team captain decided to put one of those in front of me on league night last wednesday, he gave it to me in a cocktail glass with a shot of vodka and ice. I normally have 1 beer league nights so I wasn't concerned about the alchohol.

What I noticed was I didn't get the jitters like I do when I drink coffee or coke or some other caffinated beverage before a match, I was very alert and thinking during my matches and I didn't have any of the pre-game nerves that I get for important matches and tournaments. I won all but one of my games that night.

I've never taken anything to improve my game before, and I do think this was responsible for my lack of nervousness, and resulted in a more confident game.

I'm not concerned about the ethical questions. It's an off the shelf product that anyone can buy if they so choose. I'm just curious if anybody else has noticed it gives them an edge.

i prefer sublingual b12

not all the time, though.
i think too much red bull will grow a wart the size of a baseball, on your nose.

I wonder what a blind test would show?

I have to wonder what a blind test would show, if there was some way to for you not to know if you were given the Red Bull or not. I suspect that it was more Dumbo's feather than anything else that helped you but I don't know. I would think that such a drink would do more harm than good unless you were getting tired before you drank it.

I knew a pistol shooter that always took one aspiren before a match. He knew it was a mild tranquilizer and he felt it helped his nerves and let him perform better. No doubt it did, but I suspect largely because he thought it would.

I can't see any ethical issue involved either. Beer, coffee, Coca-Cola, and cigarettes are all doping if anyone wants to split hairs.

I do know that either the first or second medical ingredient was developed by the good old US Army for it's soldiers during viet nam, it was supposed to keep them more alert and give them a sense of well being.
