What do you all think of this idea? Since this last round only produced two players from each group, why not the round before have 9 groups of four instead of 6 groups of 6, with two from each group moving on? What it would do, give the players a little more rest and therefore give them all a chance to play better after the long tiring week of relentless matches. No one likes to see the best players in the world get so tired they can't make shots because of fatigue. I would prefer seeing flawless pool in the end instead of one player ok and the other just flat and worn out.

Tired? Fatigue? C'mon most of these guys head for the gambling tables after the day is over.

These are the same guys who play for days on end.

How many of them have played a game of 10 ahead for 48 hours straight?

Here they have a nice green room where they can relax, get a massage, watch TV, eat good healthy food.

This is a piece of cake for them.

Then why do most of em keep talking about getting rest, being tired and getting back in shape??

lol, its POOL. Its not like they are playing 4 or 5 tennis matches each day or 4 or 5 basketball games. I've played very lengthy ahead sets and although somewhat tiring, it in no way gives them an excuse for not playing well. If the players really want pool to be considered a main stream sport and get paid accordingly then I'm sure they can manage to play for most of the day.

Well ...

Some of them were never 'in shape' to begin with, they were just 'young'.
There is a difference ... lol Being a professional means being dedicated to the sport, and doing what is necessary in order to maintain peak performance, and that includes exercising, watching your diet, strength conditioning, maybe not drinking or at least cut back, and whatever else you need to do.

Stamina is a major factor mentally and physically in this tournament.

It is by far more tasking than any marathon match. I am 40 pounds overweight and have survived the marathon matches (on the natch BTW).

And I know there is absolutely zero chance of me making it far in the format of the IPT, due to my current physical condition.
