Reed Pierce

KC,

I think a lot of people feel the same way, including many of the pros.

The thing I like about most of the Filipino players is, not only are they world champions, but they all seem to be so gracious at the table. You could tell from the BD article that Jose was preturbed by Jeremy Jones because of his slow play but you didn't know it to look at him during the match. Some of the other pros, not to mention names, would have been visibly upset.

I have traveled a lot because of my business to foreign countries. Because of cultural differences I am real careful of not offending the local populace. I mean do not touch any SE Asian on the head, as I did once in a friendly manner. It will get you into a fight. And never give the American OK sign with the hand because in Brazil it means You're an A-hole. In Mexico, London, Thailand, etc. I am always on my best behavior particularly in a pool hall. When Im back home in the states I might not take the kind of crap that you or I might get. My question is has anyone seen Efren or Jose, etc play and match up in the Phillipines? Do they act the same? This question has no accusations I am just curious.

I've seen both play for money here in SoCal.
I have yet to hear an opponent complain about their behaviour.

Reed Pierce ...

I do know that in the 7 years that Wichita's own Jr. Brown went down and lived in New Orleans, and beat everyone down there, he only lost 1 big match and that was to Reed Pierce. Late 80's and early 90's.

I like to call Efren the Charlie Bronson of Pool .... <smile>

I beat David Matlock in a tournament here in Wichita at Rumor's billiards on the winner's side, he didn't show up to play our match on Sunday after playing Saturday...... <big grin>

James Waldon from OKC plays pretty good. I asked James if he ever match up with Shannon Dalton, and he said he was there, and Dalton's money man would not put Dalton up for a match.

We also have a Wichita player, now living in Tulsa, that plays very good to, named Gabe Owen. Gabe tours the country playing ...
