Why do people still call it FELT?

I have no idea why people call it pop when it's really soda....Why do people still call it FELT?

I may be the odd ball that actually enjoy "re-upholstering"

I still call it felt. That's what the Pool Hall owner who taught me how to re-felt tables in 1975 called it, so that's good enough for me.Why do people still call it FELT?

That doesn't make it right. Felt is by definition made by compressing fibers in a mat. Pool table cloth, including Haxton, is woven.I still call it felt. That's what the Pool Hall owner who taught me how to re-felt tables in 1975 called it, so that's good enough for me.

Like we get our pool advice from Amazon. Everything has a correct name/term and 'felt' is not what goes on a pool table. Knew a few dancers that like being felt on a pool table but that's another story.I still call it felt. I cringe when I see people call pool table cloth "felt". It's okay to refer to the cheap material that pills up "felt" but worsted material such a Simonis should be referred to as "cloth".

You are absolutely wrong. I've been playing since 1960's, and it's always been called FELT. You can't rewrite history.

Actual baize is closer to felt but the term is often used for billiard cloth. Real baize would feel like burlap compared to worsted wool cloth.
