Refelting tables

On another note, why do we call it a Pool Table?

Pool = a small area of still water, typically one formed naturally

Felt or cloth we all know what you meant.re-clothing a table is no mean feat. Getting the stretch right. Where its pulled tight enough can be tricky. The last one I done back in January. Simonis 860 brought from Germany. It was cut just big enough, to cover a 9ft. Didn't look like there was enough there, But it had, hell of a lot of stretch when pulled very hard. I finished with a lot more than I started with.

Calling billiard cloth felt is at least more correct then when people call the rails "bumpers", or the even worse "walls".

I cringe when I see people call pool table cloth "felt". It's okay to refer to the cheap material that pills up "felt" but worsted material such a Simonis should be referred to as "cloth".

A question to those that refer to pool table cloth as felt. Do you refer to the material your worsted wool suit is made from "felt" or "cloth"?
So wrong it’s comical.

I never heard of cushion pool
I've heard of 3 cushion but that's billiards, not pool. Also, while there seems to be agreement that a billiard and a carom are different, there is a split over which one is the cue ball bouncing off an object ball to the target, and which is the object ball bouncing off another object ball to the target.

If it's the fuzzy stuff, you can call it felt. When woven worsted cloth is used it is cloth. And the alternative to worsted wool is woolen wool.

You are a joke. Do a ducking google search for gods sake. It’s been called felt for 100 years before you were born.

I have a feeling you've been called something for the better part of a century, too. It doesn't literally mean you are an...uhm...jeez, don't really want to say it. Shoot, you'll figure it out.

Also hate to break it to you, but Rocky Mountain oysters aren't oysters. I KNOW, right?!! It's nuts! Oops, I mean, it's testicles, not nuts.

Wrong. Do some research for Christ’s sake.

You are taking this far too seriously and fail to understand the difference between common usage and correct usage. If you want to make this personal with members here it won't end well.

You are also the guy that said this little gem below when someone suggested that regardless and irregardless now mean the same thing after so many years of misuse.
Take your own advice maybe???
No they are not. Just because 95% of people misuse a phrase doesn't mean "both are now accepted".

The largest billiard CLOTH manufacturer has been referring to is as CLOTH since 1680.

Andy refers to it as CLOTH:

Championship refers to it a fabric

If it were "felt", don't you think the folks making it would refer to it as such?

felt

Cloth. Billiard cloth (sometimes erroneously called felt) is a specific type of cloth that covers the top of the table's "playing area".
