Refinished Amboyna

Hi Everyone.

Since my posting of this cue sometime ago, interest in this amboyna pj has more than inspired me to make another one. With that, I'm letting go of this personal player. I'll be linking this thread to the for sale section soon. Before I let her go, I'd like to share pictures of her with a new finish and pin.

Thanks again and God Bless,

Al

A real beauty and very nice pictures too.

Thank you also Sir.

Credit on the photography goes to my friend Ben. He's an amateur photographer who loves cues and playing pool.

Thanks,

Al

can I know what kinda len used for those pix? macro lens??

Hi,

i just contacted him and he told me that he used a Micro-Nikkor 55mm 1:2.8 non CPU lens. He says it's a macro lens.

I hope I typed it right.

Thanks

Wow - very nice Amboyna.
The rich color of the cue is highly accented by the wrap.
Very well done and thanks for sharing this cue with us before posting it for sale.

Did you core the forearm? I hear amboyna is a bit fragile and can warp over time.

Hi again Remy,

Good question.

Yes the this Amboyna PJ is cored. I would not build one without a core as the wood has no fixed grain.:)

Amboyna is indeed a light wood and like any other hard woods, is prone to warping if not processed properly.

Minimum rest upon coring of this type of wood is two years and another two years before it comes out of my shop as a completed cue.

This particular cue pictured above has been my player for four years.

God Bless,

Al

Thank you so much sir!

I though I'd give it a proper parting before this cue of mine finds another home.

Thanks again and God Bless,

Al
