i have a question, i am restaining an all wood Peter V. table and want to know if there is a way to remove the pearl diamonds in the rails. or any idea how not to stain them?

There is to my knowledge no easy way to remove the mother of pearl inlays. The only thing I know that you can do is to carefully tape over them, using high quality painters tape.

I would leave them in there when you sand them, they are about an 1/8 of an inch thick, after you sand them and before you stain them put some clear nail polish on the inlays. After you stain them (and before a clear if you use it) just rub off the stain on the inlays and they will look great.

I used clear shellac when I did my table. Along with a magnifying glass strapped to my head and a fine brush. I did 2 coats to all the ivory site (old piano keys I had) and to all the white holly inlay on the table. Worked great and not any bleeding of the stain into the ivory or inlay. Good luck…
