Hi guys, got a free Gandy residential pool table a few weeks ago and while the wood and slate is in pretty good shape the felt and bumpers are ready for their retirement. Bought some Simonis 860 and picked up a set of Accufast rubbers on the cheap. Before I install these guys I had a question on leveling this table since I only want to do it once, you know.
The table is sitting on a laminate floor which has been compressing and while it was level when I set the table up, the compressing of the floor made quick work of all that. Because I'm installing new felt, and don't want to take it off every few weeks to re-level the table, I was wondering if any of you have set up tables on laminate floor or are aware of laminate compressing? If so, did the floor ever "set"? If you were setting a table up a floor that compressed how long would you prefer to let the table sit before leveling?
Also I've noticed that gluing down felt seems to be pretty popular these days, any reason it's more popular than stapling? Or is that because a lot of tables don't have the wood backing on the slate?
