To me it looks like a large percentage of the regional tours are getting smaller fields and smaller purses over the last few years. I believe one of the biggest reasons is that dead money players are waking up that they have no choice to cash and are for the most part just donating. I no, you need to play better players if you ever want to get better/good, but there are other ways to do that. At the same time these weekly and monthly winners need to move up if they ever want to get better.
Most of the blame IMO goes to the promoters of these regional tours. There has to be a way to keep track and move up the same winners that should be playing in pro/open events and not clubbing baby seals in amateur events week after week. With the software that is out now, and has been out for years it’s a shame all regional tours don’t use them and share the data with each other tours to move the top cashers up. JT
