hi all,
im a relative novice in the game.
understandably, in the game of snooker, cues mostly use brass, and in pool, cues use brass for jump and phelotic materials for regular cues.

i was wondering what the regulations are with regards to ferryle types and length.

or what is the accepted conventions around the pool ball and major tournaments?
thanks!

Most ferrules for pool cues are a standard 1 inch in length, however, variations that I have seen from certain Production Cue makers are 1 1/8 for Meucci, and for some import cues anywhere from 3/4 to 1 inch.

For Billiard or 3cushion Cues the standard length is 1/2 inch and I believe the same is true for Snooker Cue's.

With regards to regulations I do not think any exist, except for the BCA Pool League where Phenolic Ferrule / Tip combinations for Jump Break Cues have been outlawed. Outside of that I know of no other rules, one thing of note is that ferrules are not even required, tips can be glued directly on the end of the shaft and players are using these in tournament play.

My understanding was you can still use phenolic tips on jump cues but not on break cues! I'll have to look that one up!! Thanks
I misread your post, i see now where you say combination jump/break cues..
