relationships and pool = what?

My advice to guys that want to introduce your girlfriends/wives to pool,is make sure you illustrate how bored they might get,and plan accordingly.

That says it right there. I was no pool fan when I met my husband. I had never even really played before. I will never ever forget one of our first "dates"...at he bar...him on the pool table. I remember talking to him while he was waiting for the table or his shot...I forget. I was telling a joke. Right before the punch line...mid sentence...he walks away from me towards the pool table. I was pissed...how dare he ignore me for some stupid pool game which could wait. Wasn't I more important??? I knew right then and there it would never work, LMAO! But some how it did...and some how I got VERY into pool. I have accepted pool as part of my life. All but two of our vacations in the past 8 years have centered around pool and I have no gripes about it. When you find that person you MAKE IT WORK...life is too short to nit pick..especially with some one you care about.

Any person who would make you choose between them and an honest hobby/career is NOT worth it. No one should ask you to sacrafice yourself for them. HOWEVER, if you are gambling away your bill money, out all hours of the night hustlin' with the pool hoochies and neglecting your family then your old lady may have a reasonable beef...just like the lady married to the junkie, drunk, or whatever....to tolerate some things is doing a mis-service to both of you...she should not have to sacrafice herself either.

I'm thinking that you may already be a lost cause...if you weren't, your reaction would be WHO GIVES A FLYING F*#K WHAT SHE THINKS!!

I sure am! ;) :D

Honestly, I don't think I should join another team. It would mean being in three leagues a week with the odd Tri-State event on Saturday. I think my time would be better spent practicing.

All in all I think it comes down to being supportive and understanding. In my opinion if you are in a relationship with someone you try to understand and support everything they do, unless it is something harmful to you or them. If you have a love for something, pool or anything else, they should support it. If not, there is a certain speech....the pool is my first love speech. I think when the right person comes along the love for pool and them will balance out (that could be wishful thinking due to lack of experience).

Bingo! I couldn't agree with this more. Unfortuantely, my ex considered pool to be in competition with her and so she never supported me in it. I actually stopped bringing her to tournaments because I could see it in her face that she was hoping I would miss the shot so that I would fail and give up the 'silly' game.

Any girl that acts that way needs to be dumped as soon as possible. If she's that jealous of pool, imagine how deep her insecurities really are. When someone cares about you they shouldn't be praying for you to fail at anything you do; they should be proud that you excel at it and encourage you.

Mawissa, this is a first! We finally see eye to eye on something. (don't go gettin' your hopes up though) BUT...your words are falling on deaf ears. The boy is in la-la land and needs to visit that pool room near Wisconsin for a good swift punch to the gonads to wake up. (although I guess he can save traveling expenses by waiting long enough since she's gonna do it to him once again on her own)

Unfortunately, her meddling mom got in her head and squashed it. Her mom basically told her that it's not proper for girls to play pool.
Not proper? Sarah Ellerby, Ewa Laurance, Allison Fisher, and Ga Young Kim are just a few classy ladies on the women's tour.

La la La la la la... I can't hear you. < :o > :D

Seriously though, I hear what your saying. This thread has made me remember a lot of things I had forgotten about her.

I know... I even pointed that out to her. I guess her mom's point was that she didn't want her daughter hanging out in the smokey, shadey, gambling dens known as pool halls.

What the hell is she sticking her big nose in for and why is the girl even listening? This is a losing battle from the word "go". You're like General George Armstrong Custer right now...it's just a matter of time. (no shit)
