2 year old, yellow crayon, his mother not watching, table 2weeks old.
I need say more????

Would like to know best way to remove. Oh yet felt is a green color and has Teflon coating.

Thank you.

Get a blue crayon and scribble over the yellow, together they make green and will blend perfectly with the felt.

You could try this lay a cloth on top then iron the wax off. Interesting problem if you try this be careful of the seam in the slate as it is probably sealed with wax. Don't melt the wax in your seam.

How much do you like the two year old?

First, take a picture so you have something to hold over their head when they want to start driving your new car, 14 years from now...

Quick read on removing wax/crayon from fabric gives me the sense that you're not going to be playing without it for awhile.

Most of the suggestions include ammonia, dish soap, etc - probably not a good thing. Most of them however do say not to rub it as it will just spread it further.

I would think that heat, like suggested may make any solution a bit more difficult - I think that would make it penetrate the fabric and when it cools, be near permanent.

You may ask the question of the manufacturer to see what they say.

Thank You's..

Yes, the child is still alive. I want to kill my duaghter though.
This happened 4 weeks after she let him get ahold of a pen and draw all over leather seats in my wifes Enclave. ( her in the front seat texting) Of course I heard, I can get it out. Well I worked on the seats for an hour last week and got most of it out and removed all the clear coat off the leather. So this weekend if warm enough I will finish it and put a new layer of sealent and protectent on the seats.

I guess this week end it a Iron on low and cloth.. It not a big spot but the table is only 3 weeks old... GGGrrrrrrr. I had read to be careful because it would make the felt run faster where you iron.
Oh yea, we also found yellow crayon on two Glass top tables, the counter, 3 chairs and the Box we were going to through away that all the pool stuff came in from the store.

I told her if she doesnt watch him better she will never have anything nice, and if she keeps letting him do it at our house he will forget what his grand parents will look like  ... Actually not true.. we have no problem when we have him alone, but as soon as mom shows up he gets buck wild..
Poor thing...

iron on low heat and use paper in between the cloth and iron. the paper will wick the oils up better than cloth. you might have to repeat a couple of times. worked well for me when i spilled a lit candel on carpet.

My wife used to sell candles and she always said to use an Iron on low and a brown paper bag to lift the wax out when she did her demonstrations.

Good Luck.

crayon

I like the iron idea but please take the time to practice on some scrap material. If you can find wool worsted old pair of pants at goodwill then you have something that gets a little close to your cloth. I am afraid that the oil residue will be the problem when it is all done.

I went to my tailor to get a fabric marker/pencil from him to purposely mark a grid on my table. He said if I want to remove the marks to use an iron.

Is it a 7' barbox with one piece slate or is it a 3 piece slate?

If it is 3 piece is the mark near a seam? You can visually dissect the slate into 3 equal pieces to approximate the seams. You should probably add another 2 inches to both sides of these seems and consider that no mans land. DO NOT use an iron near the seams. You will wick the wax on the seams back up to the surface.

If you are lucky and it falls between the seams than use a brown grocery bag and an iron on the LOWEST setting. Be patient and change the surface of the bag often as the crayon is absorbed into the paper.

If you are close to a seam than you need to go the OPPOSITE direction in your approach.

You can by some COMPONENT COOLER spray and spray the crayon spot to FREEZE the wax. Use the edge of a popsicle stick and rub the cloth quickly. The wax will break up in little pieces. Carefully vacuum it away.

You probably have Championship Felt. I would get a scrap piece from a local billiard supply store and practice first to be safe.

I know that WD-40 will dissolve the wax easily but will leave an oil spot. Since the fibers are teflon coated you should be able to remove the WD-40 easily with any wool fabric cleaner. I would probably use this method but ONLY after testing it first with a cloth sample that is the same as what is on your table.
