Removing rubber wrap

Hello all...
Does anyone have an easy way to get these rubber wraps off cues?
These are fighting me the whole way ;-(
Also, the wrap channel is really deep. What is the best way to build it back up?

There are very few reason that I turn down cue work. This wrap and its channel is one. It is just not worth it.

IF you spend the time and get that fuzzy padding off, you can build the wrap channel by wrapping it with linen then seal it with a thin epoxy. Recut the shoulders and check the depth. It should be pretty close to standard depth for a new linen or leather wrap without adding noticeable weight.
