Removing shaft coating

I have a Fury J/B that has some sort of coating on the shaft that makes it stick, even when I wear a glove. I feel I can't get the kind of stroke I'd like because of it. What's the best way to remove that coating without damaging the cue?

I don't know where you got the cue, but there is no coating on the Fury J/B shaft when they are manufactured...I don't believe they are even waxed.
There are some after market sealers out there that are like putting a clear coat finish on shafts. I'm not sure what kind of coating you might have on it, but 800 should get it off.

I have a Lucasi J/B that had the same kind of "coating"...Not sure what it is exactly, but I took it to a cue guy with a lathe and he took it off in about 2 minutes...

I think part of the reason for the "coating" is that the shaft is made of "cheap" wood and the coating may help prevent warping......

I had the same "coating" on my Fury J/B as well...I got it from Seybert's if anyone is wondering. Anyway, I took some 600 grit sandpaper after it and that pretty much took care of things. The coating is actually thicker than you'd think, though, so you have to go after it pretty good to get it all off.
