i have a Schon CX-02 that has stained birdseye maple. with the stain its a little too dark, couldnt tell that from all the pics i saw on the internet.

was wondering if there is any way to remove the stain?

this model, the CX-02, of all the Schons that i saw was the one that really caught my eye. didnt realize it was that dark from the pics.

however..........once i get the new White w/black or dbl black specs irish linen wrap on it i might actually prefer it with the stain.

just have to see, dunno. either way, i now have a Schon!!!

It might be tough getting all the stain removed without sanding quite a bit of wood away. There are basically three types of stain or dye carriers being: oil, alcohol and water. Each one penetrates deeper into the wood in an ascending order. Also, Birdseye and curly absorbs the dye much deeper into the eyes or the curls. Bleaching may help but I've never used wood bleach so someone else would have to give their opinions on that.

ah... a little deck wash and a power washer and i'll get that puppy lookin' like it just was turned down.....maybe a little a little thinner and damper though...:D

I have a schon with a forearm stained darker than i'd prefer. I called proficient billiards to remove it and they said no problem. Havent sent it out yet, but they may be ur answer.

I have never tried bleaching wood either, but I aggree on the penatration of stains. Just never know how deep. Sanding will more then likely not get It white, and forebid turning it down, but in alot of cases even a couple of thin passes may not take It all out. It may would be more feasable to just re-dye a lighter color, or get another cue to acieve that. Greg

i sent you a PM.........

Changing the stain from one color to another is easy, removing it all together is near impossible. I don't like the idea of bleach, even if it is designed for wood. "for every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction."
