any one have an update on Shane Van Boning? Dave Hemmah and Lee Heuwagon

Shane was still in the tournament as of yesterday. Young Gun Brandon Shuff had four hill-hill matches in a row and ended up getting knocked out of the tournament by Timothy Hall. He also lost a hill-hill to Ernesto Dominguez. Ernesto scratched on the break, giving Brandon ball in hand, but he didn't run out the table, and Ernesto triumphed.

Some players in attendance: Jose Parica, Ronnie Wiseman, Tony Chohan, Amar Kang -- yea! -- Troy Frank, Brandon Ashcraft, Marcus Chamat, Charlie Moore, Shawn Putnam, and Little John, just to name a few.

Action: Little John and Shane matched up, one-ball one-pocket (?). The stakes were up there, but I don't know the outcome. Brandon Shuff stepped up to the plate against Justin Bergman, 8-ahead 9-ball, with Brandon getting 7 ahead twice the first day and then losing it all the second day, with Justin coming out on top. I told Brandon there sure must have been easier fish to fry than Justin Bergman while he was visiting Reno.

I believe thats the game where you play with only one ball, one pocket, and the object ball is placed on the end rail in the middle and the cue ball is placed on the headspot. Players determine who shoots first and they shoot from there.

I certainly hope Amar behaves himself this time! He's got way too much talent to squandor it with inappropriate behaviors. I'd love to see him mature into a high caliber pool player because I know he has the talent. Just wish I had just some of his ability!

Thanks Lamar, but they're not up to date. They're not getting the info to Mike in a timely manner. This morning the brackets were two or three matches behind. ;)

Hey Timberly,
I just wanted to let "Race2-9" know AZ was showing the brackets. Am aware that Mike depends on & needs timely info to keep all of us updated. Mike has advised he is also having problems receiving updates/info from WPBA.

I assume the updates were are reading in this thread are from posters that are at the Reno Open & "I Thank" these posters for the update info.

Due to the fact I don't want to change the content of this thread. I will send you a PM.

"Have a nice day",
Lamar

This just in via Brandon Shuff in Reno

Just spoke with Young Gun Brandon Shuff from Virginia. He's going to call me a little later with a full report when he goes downstairs and checks out the chart for the tournament.

A player from Salt Lake City named "Damian" won $10,000, thanks to the casino games.

South Dakota's Shining Star Shane V. defeated Troy Frank on an exciting hill-hill match.

Still playing strong in the tournament and quite possibly, according to Shuff, on the winners' side at the time of this writing are: Shawn Putnam and Ronnie Wiseman.

Brandon Ashcraft got knocked out. Justin Bergman is still in.

That's about it for now! Here's a recent pic taken at the IPT KOTH featuring Detroit's Ronnie Wiseman, California Young Gun Tony "T-Rex" Chohan, Keith McCready, New York City's George "Ginky" San Souci, and the ever-so-tall Shawn Putnam in the background.:p

Well Jam, I just heard that Richard Burns defeated Dave Hemmah 9-6, and is still in the hunt. He drubbed Al Lapena earlier in the week 9-1, and is playing well. He didn't play his game when he played Ronnie last night, and ended up on the B side.

Tony looks like he might have a Tommy gun in his jacket.

By "Richard Burns," do you mean Rolling Thunder? WOW! I like that guy's style. Nice kid! :)

I was told that world-renown TD Scott Smith is keeping the tournament running smoothly.

Eight guys left in the tournament. Shawn Putnam and Ronnie Wiseman will play tonight at 7:00 p.m., Reno time, as will Marcus Chamat who will face some guy named "Jesse James." I don't know the names of the remaining four. Jose Parica is playing somebody right now on the losers' side.

Also, there's a convention of pro bowlers on site at the Sands Regency at the same time as the pool tournament, with the hotel rooms only costing 20 bucks. At one of the craps tables, the pool players gathered around one end, with the bowlers at the other. Every time the bowlers rolled the dice, the pool players bet against them. This strange strategy seemed to work for the pool players, and they enjoyed a big win.

In addition to the tournament payouts, a calcutta was held. First prize of the pool tournament will pay $12,500.

Jennie, please be sure to tell Brandon that I appreciate him calling you with updates. Something he certainly doesn't have to do and is of no benefit to him. Thank YOU for relaying the info! Some of us have friends out there playing that can't/won't communicate because they're either in the tourney or in action. A big thanks to you & Brandon! ;)

Brandon is a good old boy for sure. However, he was supposed to provide an update to me 6:00 p.m., our time, but must have gotten diverted out there in Reno Land.:p

So, for my inquiring mind, Keith called up Ronnie Wiseman who provided the most recent update above.

Sounds like everybody is having a great time. I guess after tonight, there will only be two men left standing!
