Replacement Shaft fot McDermott G206?

What size replacement shaft would I need for a McDermott G206 cue? Also, any recommendations on any of the new low-deflection shafts? What should I get? Thanks.

It looks like the dimensions are 13mm, 0.855" joint diameter, and a 3/8-10 joint.

Do any other companies make shafts that would fit?

Wouldn't be so sure on those dimensions. Just food for thought as I have 3 Mcdermott's, all g-cores, and all between 3 to 4 years old.
Leather wrap - .844
No wrap - .855
Lin wrap - .835
All measured on the butt at the joint.
Also all my g-core shafts are apx 12.75 mm
Their cues vary at the joint, and that is why they ask you to send cue in to match. Just find someone you know that has a calipers to measure for you, or bring it to a machine shop and ask if they could measure for you, they probably wouldn't charge you for that.

Not meaning this in a bad way, but you seem a bit new at cues. Are you sure what joint your McDermott has?

I agree that it’s not that simple. The collar measurement will most likely be .855” or 843”. My G-Series is .855” and that may be what most of them are but it is no guarantee. The only way to know for sure is to measure your collar.

Your pin, if original, is definitely a 3/8x10. McDermott has used 3/8x10 with different minor diameters. That shouldn’t be an issue in your case, since the newer pins have the smaller minor diameter. It will likely only be a problem if you try to put a newer shaft on an older series McDermott butt. Since you have a G series, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Any tip size and taper will work. I have several McDermotts and like how they play. My favorite shaft has been the Predator 314-2. However, about 10 months ago I bought a McDermott Defy shaft. Not sure if I like it better but I’m still giving it a go. I also have OB shafts that, to me, are just average. You can buy any 3/8x10 shaft and it will work fine. Even if the collar width doesn’t match perfectly, it will still work fine. What is best for you is up to you.

I will end with, I really do like the 314-2 shaft. Both of my 314-2 shafts are just over 12mm, at the tip, with a pro taper.

While I mostly shoot my Schons with Jacoby Ultra 30" shafts, I was thinking the other day it would be nice to have a 30" gcore shaft to use on my Mcdermotts. I emailed them the other week as I had questions about the shaft weight in comparison to the standard 29" ones I had, and also wanted one in 12.75 mm to match my existing gcores and my Jacoby Ultras. They were very responsive in what they could do, with weights and weighting and shaft diameters, and pricing. Not only was their pricing quite reasonable for custom shaft specs, but so was their timeline to provide it.
