Replacing Gold Crown I Pockets

Has anyone switched out the pockets for a Gold Crown I, where the pockets are smoother for the cue shaft? I got rid of the original pockets that left black residue, but the newer rubber ones still grip. I was wondering if there was a leather, etc alternative that someone came up with? Thanks. Brian

Not that in know of. All rubber liners will do that to some degree.

Here is a link to ClassicBilliards. This is a leather alternative.
I'm curious myself on this one. Been looking at it all day and then saw this post when searching for info.
Hope it helps.

Thanks. I am looking into this. I talked to the guy. Going to ask my mechanic, but I plan to buy them.

I'd rather fade the occasional rubber on the shaft than install nail in pockets. You are asking for ball nicks and scratches. I've been using the Gold Crown reproductions from Born Winner. They are lower profile than the originals and do not leave marks. I've used them on my table for about 8 years.
