Replacing Rubber rails.

Ok I have a table that was given to me, its a old 4x8 3pc slate.

I am refelting it and ordered new rubber for it as well. I ordered the k-66 style rails for it. But once I received them noticed that the new ones are about an half of an inch bigger then the ones on there, same profile but slightly smaller. So I am guessing the old ones are the u-23 rubber.

Would putting the k-66's on it make a differnce in playabilty of table?

cushion profile measurements

Maybe this will shed a little light on the cushion questions being asked lately. The angle on the wooden rail is cut different with each profile of cushion AND the angle can vary depending on the height of the rail. Some manufacturers use taller (thicker) rails that others.

So what type of cushion is on my Canon table?

my table is a old 3 piece slate eight footer as well, Dennis do the new K66 that you ordered work, i mean fit as they are a big bigger? As i have the same question and want to replace the rubber cushions on my table also.

Here is a picture of my table, sorry it being so dark. Maybe one might be able to tell what cushions i need.

I've made arrangements with Slatehumper to send him my rails and have new cushions and cloth installed.

It will more than likely be after the holidays. My wife has a party coming up and she doesn't want the table sitting there looking bad.
 
myne are for Christmas, guess i was being really good this year. It is the only thing i want this year, and something to due with pool is a great gift. Hal that is your table, very nyce and i love the big screen is right there, nyce set up.
 
I wish I would have found this forum last year. I bought an old table and it needed new rubber and felt so I fugured I can do this no problem. HA ! Hind sight is always 20/20. I tore one of the rail cloths installing it . But when I replaces the rubber I bought K-66 only to find out that when it was installed on the table and bolted down tight the balls would hop very high and very long. So I ended up glueing the rubber on higher than what was recomended it worked but dosn't look real good. But I bought the table for $450 for a damp basement. I knew I wouldn't have it more than 2 years. I just got a good deal "$2750 delivered and installed" OS 8' that I will have installed in the new house. I want to say its a medalist but I cant find the info on it now. It looks almost like a gold crown but different. Same color as the GC but really doesn't look like it.

A Medalist is a great table. I'd say it's one step below a GC. Not sure if the table you bought is new or used but here is a comparison.

Those are nice tables. I play on them almost every day at my local pool hall. They appear almost identical to me to a GC except for the lack of adjustable feet. The side skirts and legs actually look a bit nicer to me than what I usually see on older GC's:) Wish I had the space and the $$ for one of those..that is a fair deal.
 
I have a Diamond table that I bought last year, it came from the US Open of 2001, the guy that bought the tables must have stored them improperly, one of the rails is gone and the others do not play well, would I have to order rails from the Diamond people? and would it be harder to put those new rails on as opposed to a Brunswick table? Should I be seeking a mechanic that has experience doing Diamond tables? thanks for your advice.
 
Stroker, I can honestly say I have not worked on a newer Diamond. replacing the rail(cushions) should be no different than any other table they all go on the same way. I am not sure what cushion your table has(Artemus or not). Greg from Diamond is on the forum from time to time. If you have never done this I recommend getting a pro to do it.
