A microphone with a chromatic tuner (cheap) or oscilloscope (expensive) can be used to find the resonant pitch of any object in the audible range (everything resonates, even yourself). The object must be mounted so it can freely resonate (suspended for example)
I believe that besides density, hardness and material... size matters too! A bigger piece will probably be lower pitched than a smaller piece (like guitar strings).
