I’m looking for recommendations for learning three cushion billiards. I have a couple of Byrne’s books that have billiards sections. Any other suggestions for books, videos, websites?

Practice what you read, Three Cushion is frustrating when you miss by small margin.

We have a 3C Table, few people use it.

Very tough game, but learnable.

lots of info
his books and dvds are great resources
he ( bill smith ) posts here on azb as mr3cushion
Has been the No. 1 player in Chicago for the past 40 years and has been one of the top 5 players in the U.S. for over 45 years.
During the 1980’s - 2000 the No.1 or 2 player in U.S.

start with the byrne shots in his trickshot book.

It is probably not a good table. If it was you could not chase the players away. There is a place near me that has 4 Verhoven (sp?) tables and they are the backbone of the business. They go from opening to closing. Some players drive 50 miles or more to spend the day there playing Billiards.

I hate to say this but you will also need to invest in a billiard cue
then use a pool simulator to analyze shots in carom

Byrnes trickshots for carom are known shots that work and most are pretty easy.
Things have changed a bit with the newer tables. While it is easy to learn most of the naturals from the books the shots that can be created today you don't find in any books.

I first played on a Gold Crown billiard table in the 60s. I'm no billiard player by the way my high run is 11. The tables you play on today it is a whole different game.

But the basic are still the basic of 3C. Balls are larger then 2.25 inch pool balls, now there are Special 3C Cue with special Tapers, small tips, and heated tables.

You can play 3-c....to me, a 10 run is the equivalent of a 100 at snooker or straight pool.
...but I understand what you mean about modern tables...thicker slate and heated.
Some shots that needed a lot of power on the old Brunswicks feel like touch shots now.
