Hello all, I am new here and this is my first post as well as my first attempt at making a cue. My question is what are the best resources for obtaining, well everything needed to make a cue. I am not asking for your personal dealers that you have been doing buiesness with for years (unless you want to tell me that) I was just wanting to know some good places to buy wood, tooling, lathes ect... also some places that I might not want to buy from because of poor quality for making cues. New to the craft I would like to limit the money I waste to the mistakes I make in creating a cue not on buying the tools to do so. I'm not asking for you all to talk bad about anyone but I know that some places have better cue wood than others. Thanks for any help.

cuesmith.com would be a good place to start. Bludworth also has lathes and other equipment but I don't believe he sells components. I'm sure other posters will chime in on this as well. I've never built a cue (yet) so I'm not going to voice an opinion onwho not to deal with. The way I understand it is better to buy equipment already set up than to try to save money and buy equipment not for cue making and try to modify it.Good Luck

Yep, you are looking at a lot of money to get started, my suggestion is, make darn sure you want to build cues (not just one, unless you already have some equipment, for other uses.) The cost of just getting started is too high, just to build one or two cues...DawgAndy said:

thanks guys. I do have some equip and access to other tools that will help but I need to know where I can get some good bits for cutting a "v" slot, I may just do inlayed points. Also I need to know where to get cue quality wood and I was reading a thread in the past and someone posted that they could get nelsonite for about 12$ a gal if bought in 5 gal sizes, anybody know where? I cant find it cheaper than 40$ per gal. Anything would help at this point I dont know much about the craft but I will learn. Cant wait to play with a cue that I make. Thanks for any help.
