Review of Starkey Cue

I received a Chuck Starkey cue that I purchased on Ebay recently. I am of the persuasion of a firm hit that gives feedback to the hand. The best feeling cue that I have experienced for this was an older Kikel sneaky pete. It was a friends cue and I told him if he ever decided to sell it to keep me in mind. This was reached after trying SW, Judd, and many other name brand custom cues.

So while looking on Ebay I saw a cue that the seller listed as being known for the hit!! Yeah right another wannabee cue maker tooting his horn.

How wrong I was !! Chuck Starkey has DONE it RIGHT!

This cue was not purchased form the builder as his cues listed for $175 and up. I found a seller that had a used one listed for much less and managed to win the bid. Bacote forearm and butt, with a birdseye handle. No fancy rings, a true players cue.

The finish is very good with excellent figure in the woods. But the best part is the feedback this cue provides. The shaft is 12.7mm and this cue will remain to be my primary cue.

I suggest if anyone is looking for a nice paying cue, that has the feel of many more expensive cues, give this cuemaker a try. This is a totally unsollicited opinion, but to tell you the truth I am excited by my find, and wanted to pass this off to my fellow AZ'ers.

He currently does not have any listed and I don't have his contact info. ( will post it here when I find it) but his Ebay name is listed as Desi2960.

I also purchased a Starkey from him some months back off of eBay. I was not as happy with my cue, but for different reasons. The guy was a true pleasure to deal with. He accepted the return of the cue and promptly refunded me my money...unlike another cuemaker I know...and was quite nice to deal with. The cue was just too light, weighing only 16 ounces, but was REALLY nice looking. It was a laminated butt of different colored stains. I really liked the cue...but darn it was just too lightweight. He does great work and I think he makes a very fine cue. Great gentleman to deal with as well...so I give him a second thumbs up!

If so, I bought a cue from cranegod1 as well. Very easy to deal with!

here is a pic and yes Cranegod1 is a very good seller and caries quite a few relatively unknown cuemakers
