Reviewing tip repair lathes

Just got mine today. Thanks Chris. Also got a compound cross slide to help make collets plus needed for some other situations ( don’t have a 3D printer). Probably going to need a new base for it as I now realize how much of a pain it will be to use it on my current one.

Also have the larger wheel and upgraded handle on the smaller wheel. Much needed improvement.

I upgraded the lock down screws in the headstock, tailstock, and steady rests to knobs a while back. Those were great but these new ones are even better.

Funnny how little things like these can make the experience even better.

Awesome - Thanks. What do you think of the new new handle?

Not sure but assume you mean the handle for the small wheel. I love that it is free spinning and not just a bigger fixed handle. Much easier to use than the small fixed one.

FYI to those thinking about it. You have to punch out the brass handle. Drill the hole with a #25 bit and tap for the new handle. 10-24 if I remember right.

LOL - I fixed it. I am not sure how I plan to offer these just yet. I am trying to come up with a solution to just sell the whole dial with new handle installed and will probably make it a standard feature on all of our pro series lathes

I would offer it both ways. Handle for those with the right tooling and assembled for those that can’t or don’t want to.
