Reviews Please: Lucasi L2000JB - Jump/Break Cue

Hi gang,

I went for an interesting lesson with an established Pro over the weekend and he was a bit surprised I didn't have a Break Cue & Jump Cue, or a Break/Jump Cue combo.

I spent most of today looking at Break Cues & Jump Cues. I think I'd prefer a combination cue and I definitely want a wrap on both cues whether it be 2 separate cues or a combination cue (which right out of the box, rules out a lot of cues on the market currently). My price range in $300.00 or under for now.

I like Lucasi cues. The Lucasi L2000JB seems to meet all my requirements.
Thoughts?

Check out Rick Howard jump/break cue. It's called the "Mace",sells new for about $325.00. Used should be in your price range,hope this helps !!!

Typically jump/break cues are not well suited for jumping. Often times, they will work fine, but there are usually much better options for jump cues.. The Lucasi L-2000JB1 falls into that category. For breaking, it is great. For jumping, it is mildly O.K..

However, I have found a jump/break cue that, not only breaks very well, but may just be the best jump cue that I have tried: the Pure X HXTP1.

The shaft diameter is a bit large, and may take a bit of getting used to. Though, you'll be hard pressed to find a better combination cue. The feature that I like best is that it is a 4 piece. When jumping overhand, it feels very nice in the short configuration. When jumping underhand, it feels very nice in the longer configuration. It even jumps very easily as a full-length cue. And, the price is great. Also, it comes in black or white.

As a side note, prior to purchasing this Pure X, I was breaking with a 19 oz Predator BK3. When I first switched to the Pure X, I had it at 19 oz, but it just didn't feel as crisp as the BK3. After bumping the weight to 20 oz, I like it every bit as much as the BK3, if not a little more. Also, I have been jumping with a Gulyassy Reaper jump cue for the past 6 or 7 years. The Pure X jumps so much easier than any other jump cue that I've ever used, that I'm having a difficult time adjusting to it.

Both the Lucasi and Pure X are fine product offerings from Cue & Case, and both carry the same lifetime warranty. You can't go wrong, either way. Though, having used both of these options (and many more), I prefer the Pure X.
