Revo 11.8 -->12.4 --> 12.9 impressions

I have been trying out different shaft thickness. I had a revo 11.8 for a bit and eventually move on to a 12.4 about a year later as it felt like i couldn't make easy distance shots consistently. The 12.4 was an improvement and I still have it going on a year, the consistency came back a bit, but it still felt off.

Some history,I have a players, roadline and various one piece cues, all 12.75+ shafts that I have played on for most of the last 5-6 years.
It appears that I do favor shatfs on the bigger diameter, make shot more consistently ect... So I broke down( see what I did there lol) and got a Revo 12.9, maybe the high of new equipment.

I played for a couple hours and it just felt right, shot that should go in were doing that, long shots especially. I guess I took the long expensive journey to find what I should have know based on what I used previously. Any one else go through this in finding the "one" ?

Solid fundamentals come into play with smaller shaft, I can see and pinpoint where I want to hit exactly with a smaller shaft. But what works for you works for you. I feel like with a bigger shaft is more forgiving if you are more a vertical line axis player using (top, center, stun, draw). But after much time with smaller shafts I even like down to 11.45mm. I personally am playing with one of my 11.8's that I sanded down a bit to 11.6mm and it is the lowest deflection I personally have tested, I love it. Before anyone brings up you cant sand a revo you will void your warranty, yes I know, It's my shaft and was my decision, so please don't get off track of ak1975's topic.

Yea fundamentals do factor in for sure. Like in strings on musical instruments, some like feathery action and some want bridge cables with high action. I can relate to this in pool cues.

I switched from the REVO to the Cuetec Cynergy and have never looked back. You might want to test drive a different shaft. The Cynergy has so much more feel and feedback in my opinion. Good luck with your search for the one.

I bought a REVO and it was nice. I then tried the CUETEC and it was nice as well....but I still prefer the 314. I've used some variation of that shaft since they came out...and it feels like home when I hit a ball with it. I've known a LOT of good players who love that Z. Dennis Orcollo, Joshua Filler, Mike Davis, Matt Clatterbuck, Brian Deska to name a few.

I bought a cynergy and am wishing I went this route

I went from 13->12.75->12.5->12.25->12.5->13->12.5->11.8. That middle 13 lasted about 8 years until early last year. So, yes, I can relate. I'm at 11.8 now and I hope to be able to just stick here and worry about/focus on other aspects of my game besides the equipment.

I have all three Revo shafts. The one I prefer is the 12.4, a happy middle ground. When I use the 11.8 I try shots I do not have the consistency to pull off with heavy English on a regular basis. Just have to keep practicing.

I prefer an 11.8 ..moved to one a year ago and then tried going to a 12.4 but after getting used to the 11.8 the 12.4 just doesn't feel right to me . I have noticed that if you are off with the smaller tip it can be a rough night, but i feel like the benefits outweigh tge cins for me and I'll be trading my 12.4 for a spare 11.8 or 11.75 soon

So what does shaft size effect?
Don't you play with a real thin shaft? Why?
Shaft size (tip width) affects mainly squirt, but also how precisely you can see exactly where the tip contacts the CB. Those are the two things I like about my 10mm tip.

With a tip that small it also helps to have a non-parallel taper for stiffness - mine is conical (straight from tip to joint).
