Rewrap a Meucci

If I wanted to have the clear coat removed from the linen, would that involve a need to refinish the butt or can the clear coat just be removed from the linen and a new linen put on.

I love the stick but I hate the clear coat on the wrap.

I just redid one last week and just removing the wrap and rewrapping it worked out just fine. I had expected to have to build up the wrap area but that was not the case.

Yeh, the finish is thin and there is usually no problem there. When removing the old wrap you just need to be carefull when nearing the ends that you don't chip the finish past the wrap.

I have done about 10-12 times & have not had very good luck with them. The clear is a continuous coat, over the wraped area & the wooden parts. When you pull off the old painted wrap, it is very hard not to pull off some of the paint on the forearm or butt sleeve, leaving a very jaged edge, right down to the bare wood. The only way I have had any luck at all is to mount the Q in the lathe & with a very sharp tool, cut through the finish down to the strings. I would not recommend trying this at home ...JER

I had an old Buddy Hall model refinished by Mike Erwin. He left the wrap unfinished and the cue looks great. Doesnt feel like a sneaky pete any more either
