Sooo i blew the tip off my break shaft...again...
The guy i've been going to even uses 2 part epoxy on break tips and i still managed to throw it. At least the SAI itself has held up and performed well.
Getting a fresh SAI put on the BK shaft and maybe a phenolic on my old Players J/B cue.

The question then: Is it worth the $200 for a Rhino Break shaft to keep as a backup or should i just drop the money on another Revo BK shaft and not worry about it?

I'd first be questioning why you are losing tips so often.

I only see really two reasons why a tip falls off. Either the faces of the tip and shaft are not clean. And usually the biggest is the tip and shaft are not flat and flush their is a little wobble before the tip is placed perminately.

I've never heard anyone using two part epoxy. If two part was so good, all Billiard supplies would be selling it. Not saying nothing is wrong with that. Search in the forum for tip replacement, you are going to find alot of people are using glue and not epoxy.

Honestly not sure. I don't break that hard. Maybe a little above average, but I'm not smashing it like some players.
I've had bad luck with break tips in general. Across 3-4 cues, maybe a dozen different tips: delamination, popping off, chipped a phenolic, and had the silencer pad come off my BK about a month after i bought it... No clue why it's such an issue.

The guy said he uses glue on playing shafts but has had better luck with the 2-part on break shafts. Not sure exactly what he's using, but it held up longer than most I've had. Made it 6.5 months at least...

Try a different guy...

I'd try someone else for putting on your tips. I've been changing my own tips for over 20 years and i've never had one fall off.

I'd go with the norm on cement type. Not one online Billiard supply store is selling two part epoxy. It's either Tiger Glue, Locktite or Gorilla Glue. I'm not saying anything is wrong with it. It's just does not seem to be a common thing too.

I just put a tip on last night with Gorilla Glue Gel. That old tip probably lasted about 6-9 months. I just worn that thing out.

Try a different guy...
He's only done this tip and a playing tip for me. The person gluing the tip on has been different nearly every time.
My confusion is that there's no real correlation. Different tips, shafts, ferrules, glues, people. Only common theme is break tips.

You don't need a break cue for 1 pocket?

If you should buy another shaft or now I don't know, but there's definently something wrong with the tip installation if this keeps happening. No need for two part epoxy at all. This is most likely a prep issue and old CA glue or a low grade CA glue. Proper installation job with Loctite 454 and you're good.

So i picked up my shafts yesterday (new Kamui SAI on the Revo, Samsara on the wood J/B).
Talked to the guy that did the install for a bit and he said that he's back to using Loctite gel on break cues (same as he's always done with playing cues). He said the 2-part was JB-Weld (i'm not sure which), but that he'd had issues with some of the layered break tips coming off when he turned them. He's understanding and good to work with, so i'm not concerned about working with him in the future unless i start having constant issues. His work has been better than anyone else's i've gone to.

Lets hope the tips stay on this time

I like the samsara break tips over the phenolic ones. Never had a tip fall off that was correctly installed. Sounds like the glue was the issue. If you need a back up, you might try finding a cheap maple shaft that fits your break pin and put a break tip on that unless you think the CF is giving you that much more of a result, which I kind of doubt IMO...

Funny thing is i had a Samsara on this shaft before the Kamui SAI.
Really liked it, but the layers started delaminating after about a month. Had to shave a bunch off, then about a month later started doing it again.
