Very Special Richard Black Cue, cue is Dead Straight, both Shafts are original with Ivory ferrules. Cue is mint, no scratches, shafts are straight, one shaft has light use and other is unused original.

One of my cues gradually increased in value due to the passing of the cue maker.
I suppose it’s merely the secondary marketplace’s normal reaction to the loss of
an esteemed name in cue making. Nonetheless, capitalizing on someone’s death
doesn’t sit well with me. My cue’s value shouldn’t have changed but it actually has.
It always comes down to rarity & scarcity, namely what else comparable is available?

I hear ya. It’s a fact a lot of collectors are aware of. But a lot of these makers are on these forums as well as their close friends and family. There is definitely a good number of members who are personal friends with Mr. Black. It’s not a bad idea to take a minute and think about how a sales disclaimer like that would go over with those folks.

Wow- sold fast! Did not see asking price. I will say that my RB is still my favorite cue of all time and will not be sold as long as I can make a ball. I am so glad that I bought it directly, in person, from Richard and still have that receipt- it was a lot of money for me back in 2003 with 2 guys approaching college years - but I treasure that cue every time I take it out for a spin!

I have had many of the "best " cue maker's cue in my hands since then, due to good fortune in life, nothing, nothing, feels as good in my hands as Richard's cue.

I got another Richard Black for sale....

Have not posted it here on AZ yet accordingly, but if you come to my house in Ft Lauderdale to see the Joss you can check out this amazing Black. It looks like I just it just came off of lathe, both Shafts ïvory ferrules and leather wrap & over 48 inlays of MOP plus ringwork!!!

That should give you motivation to drive over.
